Blinds To Go

Project Story

We were first reached out by the Blinds to Go’s IT team during the first few months of COVID. Our initial involvement was focused on Joomla support and maintenance. We got more involved with other aspects of the website as the client understood our expertise with Joomla and server management. Due to various security measures, we had to work on a live remote screen sharing sessions with the Blinds to Go’s IT department.

We were tasked with upgrading the website product search experience which at the time was not performing well. The goal was to give the website visitor quick filtered results for their product requirement searches.

Over the months and years, we worked closely with the Blinds to Go marketing team in various page structural changes to help with conversions.

As the website serves both US and Canadian clients, we developed content and marketing specific initiative that would display based on GeoCoding values.

Joomla 3.10 hasn’t been supported anymore since August 2023. Another pitfall of Joomla 3.0 is that it’s not updated anymore, as well as the plugins for this version. This means, that the performance, website speed, and other KPIs are slowing down and have a bad impact on your website’s results every day. However, the Extended Long Term Support (ELTS) program is available for additional fees. This support provides security assistance for Joomla 3.x until February 17, 2025

The update frame is the same for any version: make a backup, check compatibility, test the environment, follow instructions update Joomla Core, and Update Joomla extensions. Test (UI/Ux), how al the features, APIs, and connections work. Make adjustments where you see the issues. However, if your website is on Joomla 3.x and you prefer to shift to Joomla 5( that is deeply recommended), you need to decide how to build the migration processes. It’s recommended to update Core Joomla from 3 to 4 first, and from 4 to 5 after. The extensions and components are usually updated on the final version (in this case Joomla 5).
