Frequently Asked Questions

Joomla & Hosting Migration

Joomla 5, compared to Joomla 4 utilizes updated PHP features, speeds up development, and provides enhanced security, performance, and accessibility features. Strongly recommended to migrate from Joomla 4 to Joomla 5, and from Joomla 3 which is already not supported -it’s just crucial.

Yes, you can migrate Joomla 3 to Joomla 5, but, more smoothy it will be to update Joomla 3 to 4 and then to 5. After you update to final version, you can start updating components, extensions etc. Also, don’t forget to update PHP version and test all the website features after.

You can use the migration plugin to transfer all the data from Joomla to WordPress or do this work manually. As these two CMSs have some differences, so the content, DB and features will need improvements , as well as a shift of all 3d party interactions from Joomla to WP (usually, a separate plugin for WP CMS, or custom API integration).

Before migration, we recommend checking the servers’ software and finding out the differences from your current one (PHP and MySQL version, server configuration, and extensions). Then, please, proceed with a full backup -for the Joomla website and DB. Start to migrate data and once all is done proceed with testing to reveal broken features and data.
