We use two methods to reset the user password. The easiest way is to access the Password Reset page by going to yourdomain.com/index.php?option=com_users&view=reset; the other is going through your hosts phpMyAdmin or similar database manager, then accessing the #__users table and setting a new password on your user’s account with MD5. An example query: UPDATE #__users SET password=MD5(newpass) WHERE id=## where ## is the table entry ID for your user account.
A blank screen indicates a site error, if you have access to your FTP or File Manager via your host. You’ll need information on the error in order to debug it. Edit your site’s configuration.php file and look for an option called “debug” set it from “false” to “true”, next look for an “error_reporting” setting, change it from “none” to “maximum”. You can then reload your website to see the exact error. The trace stack should lead you to the file where the error has occurred, if its a module or plugin, simply rename it’s folder to temporary disable it. Don’t forget to reset your configuration.php values after you’ve completed your debug process.
